Bad news, Bros. John Morgan, AKA "Mountainman" had a bad accident and is hospitalized with a serious knee injury. Prognosis is totally up in the air- I just got off the phone with him and he said his doctors said he might recover completely, but the worst case scenario put his leg in jeopardy.
A couple days ago, he was riding in a group and a dog charged them. It attacked the bike in front of him, and he said he almost had his bike stopped when the dog turned and grabbed his front wheel. He came off the bike to the right as it when down (accelerating inadvertantly), and his right leg went under the frame. The right side downtube crushed his knee against the pavement (he told me his doctor used the word "mush" to describe what was left inside the knee).
Turns out the dog does this all the time, and the owner has been warned before by local law enforcement. So it looks like he'll probably have a legal fight after his medical fight gets over.
Anyway, he is hurting, has already had some surgery, and will have ALOT more before he gets on a bike again (although he seemed in good spirits- we even joked about his getting a new bike- at the dog owner's expense, of course- when he is better). Incidentally, his wife actually works at the hospital where he is being treated, so that's one good thing at least.
